For my first few blog posts, I want to go over the basics of how-to live a healthier life. I will be focusing on clean eating and weekly workouts based upon my own lifestyle choices. Step 1: Throw out all of the junk food!
I know this may seem somewhat extreme, but I promise this is a necessary step. No matter how much willpower you have, I cannot imagine anyone resisting a container of Oreos during their weakest moments when it is readily available in their pantry. By having junk food lying around, you are setting yourself up for failure.
You may have heard the term "clean eating" being thrown around in various health magazines or on the web, but what exactly is it? Well, there is no direct definition. The key for everyone to realize is that clean eating is a lifestyle change, and NOT a DIET.
A few things to keep in mind when eating clean:
1. Eliminate processed foods and foods with extra additives.
2. Eat mostly whole, unaltered and unrefined foods.
3. Rule of thumb: Do not buy anything that has more than 4-6 ingredients.
Once you begin to follow these simple guidelines, you can expect to feel less bloated, have more energy, experience less skin breakouts, and lose unwanted fat! Remember, it is all about making small changes that can last a lifetime. No fad diet will make you feel or look as good as you will when you switch to clean eating habits.
